In the US, it’s 50 years since the US TV quiz show Jeopardy! was first broadcast on NBC and September will see celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of The Star Spangled Banner. In film, October 2014 will mark 50 years since My Fair Lady premiered in New York.

The Feile Brian Boru will mark the 1,000th year anniversary of the death of Brian Boru and 2014 also marks the 10th anniversary of the smoking ban in Ireland (a world first, remember).
